Abstract

This study aims to analyze school principals' leadership strategies in implementing academic supervision at junior high schools in Kotaagung District. It focuses on efforts to build effective supervision cultures, address challenges, and assess the impact on teacher engagement. The research employs a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, analyzed using triangulation techniques to enhance validity. The findings reveal that principals utilize structured supervision strategies involving planning, execution, and follow-up to improve teacher performance. Challenges, such as limited resources and low teacher self-efficacy, are addressed through stakeholder involvement and competency development programs. The implementation of academic supervision successfully enhances teacher participation, fosters collaboration, and supports innovative teaching practices. This study contributes to the development of educational leadership theories and offers practical recommendations for improving academic supervision effectiveness to support teacher professionalism.
