Abstract
This research is motivated by the fact that there are still students who make mistakes in solving mathematical story problems so that this study aims to describe student mistakes in solving mathematical story problems in MI schools. Student mistakes in solving story problems lie in mistakes in changing the story problems into mathematical models. Students should be able to solve story problems by understanding mathematical concepts, interpreting the language in story problems into mathematical models, so that students are able to do mathematical calculations correctly. This research is included in the type of qualitative descriptive research that is analytical in nature of student mistakes in solving story problems in grade III MI Beraja Asri. The results of the study based on the analysis showed that the mistakes experienced were such as mistakes in understanding concepts, where students were not yet able to present data correctly. Mistakes in ordering numbers, marked by students not being able to order data from the smallest to the largest and errors in comparing data, marked by students not being able to compare data correctly. This shows that the factors that cause errors in solving mathematical story problems for grade III MI students are internal and external factors.
