Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of principal leadership and school climate on teachers’ pedagogical competence at SD Gugus Seruni 2, Pringsewu District, Pringsewu Regency. The focus of this research includes three main aspects: (1) the influence of principal leadership on teachers’ pedagogical competence, (2) the influence of school climate on teachers’ pedagogical competence, and (3) the simultaneous influence of principal leadership and school climate on teachers’ pedagogical competence. This research employed a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design. The population consisted of 146 teachers selected using a cluster random sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire instrument that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The results indicate that principal leadership significantly influences teachers’ pedagogical competence, school climate significantly affects teachers’ pedagogical competence, and both principal leadership and school climate jointly influence teachers’ pedagogical competence. The implications of this research highlight the importance of the principal’s role as a manager, entrepreneur, and supervisor in developing teachers’ pedagogical competence through effective leadership and the creation of a conducive school climate, fostering a positive working atmosphere that supports improved teaching quality.
