Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of school principals in improving the quality of Islamic education at MIS 05 Darussalam Pondok Pesantren Modern Darussalam Kepahiang. The research method used in this study is qualitative research. The results of the research obtained are; 1) Research at MIS 05 Darussalam shows the important role of school principals' leadership in improving the quality of Islamic education, through motivation, promotion of inclusivity, and collaboration with stakeholders. Purpose-oriented and communicative leadership creates a conducive learning environment, while inclusivity and social justice enhance student engagement. External collaboration strengthens resources and support for holistic education, academic benefits and fostering student character. 2) Research at MIS 05 Darussalam found that the effectiveness of the principal's leadership in improving the quality of Islamic education lies in the commitment to Islamic values, the development of an inclusive and collaborative work culture, and the facilitation of training for teaching staff. Principals who integrate Islamic values with the school's vision, create a conducive learning environment, and promote the professional development of staff, significantly improve the quality of education and learning. 3) Research at MIS 05 Darussalam reveals challenges in improving the quality of Islamic education, including lack of government support in funding and infrastructure, as well as imbalance between administrative workload and academic responsibilities. Financial constraints affect infrastructure development, while administrative burdens reduce the focus on teaching and pedagogic innovation, becoming a major obstacle in improving the quality of education.
