Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum based on a contextual approach in secondary schools. The results of the study indicate that this approach has great potential in improving the quality of religious learning by linking teaching materials with social, cultural, and economic issues that are relevant to students' lives. The contextual approach has succeeded in increasing students' motivation, active participation, and critical thinking skills, while strengthening their understanding of Islamic teachings. However, the main challenges in its implementation are limited resources, facilities, and teachers' understanding of this approach. Therefore, this study recommends increasing training for teachers, improving school facilities, and strengthening cooperation with the community and religious institutions. With these steps, it is hoped that the implementation of the contextual-based PAI curriculum can be more effective and provide a more meaningful learning experience for students.
