Abstract
This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of the applying of point weight in improving student discipline at SMA Negeri 1 Kotaagung. This research focuses on motivation theory, especially reinforcement theory, which explains how the provision of point weight as a form of positive reinforcement can influence behavioral changes and improve student discipline. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research population consisted of students in grades X, XI, and XII, with samples taken purposively from classes that implement the point weight system. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires that measured the level of student discipline before and after the application of the point weight system. The results of the data analysis showed that there was a significant increase in student discipline after the applying of the point weight system, which was reflected in a decrease in violations of school rules and an increase in student punctuality in participating in teaching and learning activities. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the applying of point weight is effective in improving student discipline at SMA Negeri 1 Kotaagung. This research recommend that a similar system be apply more widely in other schools to improve the overall quality of student discipline.
