Abstract

This research aims to identify obstacles in implementing formative assessment, analyze the factors that cause these obstacles, and provide recommendations for overcoming obstacles that arise in implementing formative assessment. Based on the theory of formative assessment, obstacles in implementing formative assessment, and solutions to obstacles in implementing formative assessment, this research highlights the obstacles in implementing formative assessment and solutions to overcome them. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. Research data collection uses observation sheets, documentation and interview guidelines. The subject of this research is SMP Negeri 2 Wonosobo in Tanggamus district. The data analysis technique uses interpretation of interview results. The research results showed that there were several obstacles found during the implementation of formative assessment. These obstacles include constraints related to resources such as limited technology and internet access to assessment tools, then constraints related to competency such as limited understanding of formative assessment. There are several factors that cause obstacles in formative assessment, such as not all teachers understanding the concept of formative assessment in depth, high workload, large number of students and administrative demands which often make it difficult for teachers to prepare and carry out formative assessments routinely. Solutions that can be used to overcome several obstacles in implementing formative assessments at SMP Negeri 2 Wonosobo include combining formative assessments with daily learning activities, utilizing existing resources in the school environment, and participating in formative assessment training and developing effective feedback.
